The palette everyone is swooning over just now on instagram. The stunning marble, baked and all round perfection of a palette that is the Hourglass Surreal Lighting Palette.... but do you need it? Now that is the question
Let me give you a history lesson on why I bought this:
2014 - Oh my goodness that blush palette is stunning... but its too expensive.
2015 - Oh my goodness that blush/lighting palette is perfection I need it.... but the pans are too small.
2016 - Just fucking buy it Erin. K.
Ok yes. So I bought it, and yes the palette is beautiful, yes its way too expensive, and yes the pans are small, but its been years avoiding it, wishing I had... enough was enough this time. Plus a £15 off from SpaceNK helped A LOT.
But is it actually any good?
To me the products are hit and miss. The blushes are a complete hit. I love hourglass blushes, and these ones do not disappoint, especially used together. the perfect combo.
The bronzer doesn't show up well on my arm, but I can promise you it gives a warm glow a typical bronzer just doesn't. It's making me want a full sized one....
But to me the downfall is the strobe and setting powder... both are a bit chunky, and glittery. I haven't had much use from them yet, but I am concerned I will just end up looking sparkley not glowy... and that is a huge difference.
Do do you NEEED it? No. You don't. Would I recommend it again and again? No. But do I think it is a good little princess product, something to want rather than need? Hell Yes.

ReplyDeleteUgh! Th reviews have been so mixed about this palette and I am really on the fence about it. On one hand I want to buy it but it's retailing for CAD90 before tax and it's just too pricey for me to get it online. I need to see it in stores before buying.

I've always been curious about Hourglass powders, maybe I'll just start off with a single product like a blush rather than a big palette like this but man are these palettes tempting, especially with the marble finish!
